Sir,
I have receieved [sic] another parcel of Sheep from Mr Jarvis of Lisbon, and he writes me that you are to select two Ewes from the whole parcell. As I saw a Letter from Mr Jarvis to your Excy.,1 I did suppose you wou’d have sent ’ere now for these Sheep, and as I am desirous of making some dispositions of them,2 I have to request that you’ll send down for yours as soon as convenient. I have the honor to be sir Your Obt Servt
J H. Hooe
RC (DLC).
1. Hooe was possibly referring to William Jarvis to JM, 26 Aug. 1810.
2. On the same day that he wrote this letter to JM, Hooe placed an advertisement in the Alexandria Daily Gazette, announcing that he had recently received a consignment of merino sheep from Jarvis by the ship Citizen and would be selling them at auction on 3 Nov. 1810.
