Carey’s Addresses of the Philadelphia Society for the promotion of National Industry (1st ed., Philadelphia, 1819; , 11 [no. 707]) went through multiple editions, 1819–20. The work included excerpts on the subject of manufacturing from Benjamin Austin to TJ, 11 Dec. 1815, and TJ to Austin, 9 Jan. 1816 (pp. 157–61). Carey was a founder of the society in 1819 ( ).
