Sir,
On perusing the Advertizement enclosed herewith2 you will see the Propriety of its having a general Circulation throughout the United States. I therefore request you will cause it to be published in the several News Papers that are printed in your State.

1. This was sent as a circular letter to the receivers of continental taxes in the various states.
2. The enclosure was a notice dated October 17, 1782, from the Office of Finance “to all persons who may incline to Contract for the Supply of Rations, that the seven following Contracts will be entered into for the Year 1783” (The Freeman’s Journal: or, the North-American Intelligencer, October 16, 1782).
