William Craig (ca. 1775–1826) joined his uncle in business as Henry Sadler & Company in 1794. After Sadler’s death, Craig went into business with his younger brother Samuel Craig (ca. 1780–1830) under the name of William & Samuel Craig. The firm survived until Samuel Craig’s death (New York Daily Advertiser, 13 Sept. 1794; New-York Commercial Advertiser, 6 Aug. 1805; Longworth’s New York Directory description begins Longworth’s American Almanac, New-York Register, and City Directory. New York, 1796–1842 (title varies; cited by year of publication) description ends [1806], 145; [1830], 207; New-York Evening Post, 5 Sept. 1826, 9, 15 July 1830).
