His Excellency orders me to acknowlege the receipt of your two letters per bearer. The intended march of your division tomorrow1 morning prevents a particular reply to the points mentioned in one of them.

1. On July 5–11, 1779, the British made a maritime raid on the Connecticut towns of New Haven, Norwalk, and Fairfield. On July 10, Washington ordered Heath to march to the relief of the Connecticut towns.
