Your Favor of this date was received this Evening & agreable to your request have sent Doctor Wilson to take charge of the Wounded Officers & Men of the Army under my command who have fallen into your hands at Howels Tavern & the neighbouring Houses. The Doctor has directions to give a receipt for All that are delivered him, and they will be considered as Your prisoners.1 I am Sir with due respect Yr Most Obedt Servt

1. Lewis Feuilleteau Wilson (1752–1804), who had graduated from the New Jersey in 1773 and subsequently had studied medicine under Dr. William Shippen, Jr., was appointed a surgeon’s mate in the hospital department in January 1778, and he served as a surgeon from June 1779 to October 1780. After the war Wilson settled in North Carolina, where he eventually became a Presbyterian minister.
