1. George Scott (1758–1826) was a second lieutenant in Col. Hugh Stephenson’s Maryland and Virginia rifle regiment from July to December 1776 and a captain in the Virginia militia in 1777 and 1778.
2. James Scott (1742–1779), a member of the Virginia conventions in 1775 and 1776 from Fauquier County, Va., raised an independent company of militia for the three months’ service in late 1776 and early 1777 that arrived at Quibbletown, N.J., on 1 Mar. 1777. Scott’s company disbanded in April 1777 when its time of service expired.
