Test. Robt Lewis. Hamilton Cooper
DS, in Robert Lewis’s writing, ViMtvL.
1. Lewis’s list of rental payments collected from those who were GW’s tenants of 25 Dec. 1794 includes Hamilton Cooper as a Berkeley County tenant, “vice John Steen ejected,” with a payment of £30. On Lewis’s list of the payments from those who were tenants as of 25 Dec. 1795, Cooper is again listed with the same payment (both documents, ViMtvL). Number 2 was a 200-acre lot on the south fork of Bullskin Run that GW originally leased to Jacob Fry and later to Moses Collett before the lease to Steen.
