Dear Sir,

I do myself the honor to transmit to you under cover, a letter from the Post-Master at Scaghticoke, in answer to one I addressed to him on the subject of your letters to Mr Oliver Barrett; by which you will know that your letters have been delivered to Mr Barrett.

Enclosure: Munson Smith to Bailey, Schaghticoke, 21 Apr. 1812, stating that “Yours of 7th April Inst came to hand with one inclosed for Mr Oliver Barrett which letter I have delivered to him—the former Letter of which you mention as being from Mr Jefferson was receivd in due time & Delivered to Mr Barrett he Says, he has written an answer” (RC in MHi; addressed: “Hone Theodorus Bailey Esqr P Master N. York”; franked; postmarked Schaghticoke, 21 Apr.).
