Mr. Nimmo the Commr. of bkrptcy appointed for Norfolk whose Christian name was left blank, is named ‘James.’

According to State Department records and TJ’s list of appointments, the commission for James nimmo was dated 24 Nov. Madison sent the document to James Monroe on 29 Nov. with the request that he insert the christian name, send it to him, “and inform me of the name you shall insert” (Madison, Papers, Sec. of State Ser., 4:159; list of commissions in Lb in DNA: RG 59, MPTPC; Appendix I).
