I have the honor to request your Signature to the enclosed Warrant. It is wanted for Mr. Ludlow one of the Midshipmen of the President who has been some time acting but of whose Christian name I am as yet ignorant.

Midshipman Augustus C. ludlow served on the frigates President, Essex, and Constitution in the Mediterranean from 1804 to 1807 (NDBW description begins Dudley W.
