Dear Sir
I take the liberty of recommending to you Mr Veltenair, who wishes to take likenesses from some of your busts, he is an ingenious artist, an excellent musician, and a person who I think merits attention

Christian veltenair was an itinerant artist, inventor, and musical-instrument maker from Virginia. He was in Baltimore and Norfolk in 1807, in Lexington, Kentucky, in 1814, and in Nashville in 1821 (Washington Federalist, 15 Sept. 1804; Baltimore American and Commercial Daily Advertiser, 18 May 1807; Norfolk Gazette and Publick Ledger, 14 June 1807; Lexington Kentucky Gazette, 14 Feb. 1814; Nashville Clarion and Tennessee Gazette, 4 July 1821).
