Yours of the 13th. inst. from Germantown I received in course of Post. By the A/Ct. rendered the balance in my hands was $50.17 the further Sum received for the Quarters Interest is 59.66. D. which altogether makes $109.83 for which I here inclose you a draft @ 3 d/s on Messrs. Elliston & John Perot. You also have here inclosed, Certificates vizt. 1 for 2800. D. 6 per Cents, 1 for 2356. D. 3 ⅌ Cents, and 1 for 2150 D. Deferred Debt, all of which please own receipt of, and with respect I remain Sir Your most obdt. hue Servt

Enclosure: Kennan’s account current with Alexander Donald for William Short, and with TJ for Short, New York, 20 Nov. 1793, with entries for 18 Aug. 1792–20 Nov. 1793 and subjoined list of three certificates forwarded to TJ (Tr in DLC: Short Papers; in Kennan’s hand and signed by him; endorsed by Short as a copy received from Kennan at New York in January 1803). Other enclosures not found.
TJ replied in a brief letter of 8 Dec. 1793 acknowledging receipt of the three financial instruments enclosed by Kennan, Nos. 521, 523, and 524, respectively, all issued by the loan office of New York (PrC in DLC, at foot of text: “Mr. Patrick Kennon N. York”; Tr in ViU: Edgehill-Randolph Papers, 19th-century copy).
