To William Hill Wells

Th: Jefferson requests the favour of The Honble. Mr. Wells. to dine with him on Friday next, the 28th. Instant at half after three, or at whatever later hour the house may rise.

William Hill Wells (1769–1829), a Federalist attorney in Delaware, was elected to the United States Senate in 1799 after the death of Joshua Clayton. Wells resigned in 1804 but was reelected to the Senate in 1813 to fill James A. Bayard’s vacated seat (Biog. Dir. Cong.).
