Discusses Barbara Peters’s claim to a house formerly held in trust by John Todd, Jr. JM had earlier enclosed to Jefferson a letter to Muhlenberg (not found)—“related to a case of humanity”—that was probably on the same subject (JM to Jefferson, 15 Apr. 1798).
