Philadelphia, May 27th 1793.

Sir,

I pray permission to inform you, that I expect to embark for England, within a few days—and to request the honor of seeing you, at any time, before my departure, which you shall be pleased to appoint.1 With inviolable sentiments of heartfelt gratitude, and the most respectful attachment, I am Sir, your obliged, faithful, and affectionate servant

1. Any meeting between GW and his former secretary William Jackson has not been identified. GW, however, provided Jackson on 12 June 1793 with a certificate of recommendation and letters of recommendation to Thomas Pinckney and Gouverneur Morris, the U.S. ministers to Great Britain and France, respectively.
