General Orders
Head Quarters, Morristown April 14th 1777.

The General Court Martial of which Major Harmar is President, is to sit to morrow, at 9 o’clock, to try Lieut: Francis Costigan of Col. Ogden’s Regt and such other prisoners, as may be brought before them. All Evidences are to attend—Col. Biddle will furnish the evidence against Lieut. Corstagan.1

1. For the charge against Lt. Francis Costigin (Costigan; c.1744–1821) of the 1st New Jersey Regiment and his dismissal from the army after the court-martial found him guilty, see General Orders, 17 April. Costigan had been appointed an ensign in the 1st New Jersey Regiment in November 1775 and had been promoted to second lieutenant a year later.
