Manchester Town Ferry, 8 Jan. 1781. In accordance with TJ’s order “of this morning,” a wagon load of ammunition has been sent “from this place”; another, from the other side of the river, ordered for Gen. Steuben, will be forwarded by Col. Davies.

TJ’s orders to Fleming have not been located. There is also in Vi a letter from Charles Fleming to William Davies, at “Briton’s Ferry,” same date, stating that he is enclosing a letter from TJ to Steuben (not identified), “with a Waggon load of amunition from the other side there being immediately convenient here than [sic] a Waggon load I have also just dispatched to Richmond for Genl. Nelson agreeable to the Governors order just now received”; Fleming added that the men there, about 250 in number, “are arming by companies and will march to Westham immediately in that order as fast as they are ready.”
