M Poissonnier a l’honneur de présenter son Respect à Monsieur Franklin et de lui Rappeller qu’il a promis de Vouloir bien signer le rapport des Commissaires de la Société Royale de Medécine, Sur les Bains de Mr Albert.5 En Conséquence il a l’honneur de lui envoier ce Rapport que M Albert aura celui de lui présenter lui même, avec la Copie de ce même Rapport, afin que Monsieur franklin puisse en faire plus aisement la lecture, S’il juge à propos d’en prendre Connaissance.

5. The commissioners were BF, Poissonnier, Vicq d’Azyr, Claude-Antoine Caille, and Jacques Dehorne. Dehorne was physician to the duc d’Orléans and the comtesse d’Artois and editor of the Jour. de médecine militaire: Jean Sgard, ed., Dictionnaire des Journalistes: 1600–1789 (2 vols., Oxford, 1999), I, 278–9. After describing the baths and their therapeutic potential, the commissioners lauded Albert for reserving rooms for the poor and recommended the establishment for government protection. (The signed report, which is heavily edited, is at the library of the Académie nationale de médecine.) The society endorsed the commission’s findings at its May 14 meeting and further recommended that the price of admission be reduced so that all social classes could enjoy the benefits of the facility: Rapport sur l”établissement de bains du sieur Albert, au nom d’une commission composée de MM.
