To Benjamin Franklin from [Levi Andrew] Levy, 12 November 1763

From [Levi Andrew] Levy7

AL: American Philosophical Society

12 Novembr. [1763?]

Mr. Levys compliments to Mr. Frankling will be obliged to him if he can Answer the inclosed requisitions or any part of them.

Addressed: To / Doctor Frankling

[Note numbering follows the Franklin Papers source.]

7The mention in this brief note of “requisitions” suggests strongly a reference to BF’s activities (with the other provincial commissioners) in providing supplies for the frontier. The only November after he had become a “Doctor” in which he was thus active was November 1763 (above, pp. 362–4). If this inference is correct, the writer might have been either Isaac or Samson Levy (1722–1781), both Philadelphia merchants, or more probably Levi Andrew Levy (fl. 1750–1790) of Lancaster, an Indian trader, land speculator, and storekeeper, the partner and son-in-law of Joseph Simon of Lancaster.
