MS (MHi); written on a half sheet in Patrick Gibson’s hand, signed by TJ.
At the date of this document, TJ was still at Warm Springs, not monticello. His financial records indicate that a note in this amount to his grandson Thomas Jefferson Randolph was renewed on this date ( , 2:1350). The presence of the extant text in TJ’s papers may suggest that it is a previously signed and dated but unused duplicate.
