[Burned] his Letter to Thomas Wharton
Decr. 12 1767

[Burned] hear of the Accident to the Boat9 On the [burned] being fully sensible of the Truth of What you [burned] concerning Indian Affairs And the Necessity of [burned] a Boundary, I shall urge this Point very [burned] On the Ministry.1

8. This extract, and one from BF’s letter to Galloway of Dec. 1, 1767 (above, p. 332 n), were sent by George Croghan to Sir William Johnson on March 1, 1768. Only fragments of each extract survived the fire in the State Capitol in 1911, and no other part of this letter has been found in any form.

9. A boat, belonging to Baynton, Wharton & Morgan, loaded with Indian trade goods, which was found plundered and floating abandoned on the Ohio River; see above, p. 272.
