George Washington to Thomas Wharton, Junior

[Valley Forge] May 11, 1778. Is disappointed that so few militiamen are available. Asks that a plan be devised to keep the militia in constant readiness for the field, and that 400 militiamen be kept between the Delaware and the Schuylkill.
