1. Ogden sent his Antidote to Deism. The Deist Unmasked; or An Ample Refutation of All the Objections of Thomas Paine, Against the Christian Religion … (2 vols., Newark, N.J., 1795). Ogden had dedicated the work “To George Washington, Esq. President Of the United States of America, The Patron of Science; The real Patriot; The Father of his Country, And the sincere Christian; This Defence of Divine Revelation, As a Testimony Of Esteem and Respect, Is Inscribed by The Author.” The volumes were in GW’s library at the time of his death ( 154).
