Th: Jefferson has the honor to inclose to the President a letter from Mr. Seagrove.
When he shall1 have considered of the questions of wages to Albion Coxe (till he shall have qualified himself to draw his regular salary) and the ordering a coinage of 1000 Dollars in small silver for the Treasury, he will be so good as to communicate his determinations.

The enclosure was probably a letter from Creek Indian agent James Seagrove of 20 July 1793, recorded in SJL as received from St. Marys on 20 Aug. 1793 but not found. An earlier letter from Seagrove to TJ of 3 Apr. 1793, recorded in SJL as received from St. Marys on 30 July 1793 but not found, evidently enclosed “an application to him from the Spanish Govr. of East Florida, respecting slaves which were detained by the citizens of Georgia” as well as “his answer, & a copy of his letter to the Governor of Georgia on the subject” ( 211). TJ mistakenly listed both letters in SJL under the name of John Seagrove.
