From Thomas Jefferson to George Washington, 7 August 1793

To George Washington

Aug. 7. 93.

Th: Jefferson has the honor to inclose the draught of a letter to Mr. Hammond. If the President approves it, he will send it to Mr. Hammond’s immediately, as tomorrow’s post is the last one which will be in time for the Packet.

RC (DNA: RG 59, MLR); addressed: “The President of the US.”; endorsed by Tobias Lear. Tr (Lb in same, SDC). Not recorded in SJL. Enclosure: TJ to George Hammond, 7 Aug. 1793.

The President approved the enclosed letter this day (Washington, Journal description begins Dorothy Twohig, ed., The Journal of the Proceedings of the President, 1793–1797, Charlottesville, 1981 description ends , 215).
