Permit me to introduce to your acquaintance and recommend to your Civilities the bearer of this, Mr. Hoffman,2 our Atty General who goes to Connecticut on the question of the Connecticut Gore.3 He will wish to engage the assistance of one of your Lawyers; will you assist him with your advice?

1. Wadsworth, a friend of H for many years, was a Federalist member of the House of Representatives from Connecticut from 1789 to 1795 and a member of the Connecticut Executive Council from 1795 to 1801.
