From John Adams to Jeremiah Wadsworth, 21 July 1788

Braintree July 21. 1788

Dr. Leonard will have the honour to inclose this Letter, which is merely to inform you that he came over in the Same ship with me, and that from all I have Seen or heard of him, he is a very honest and inoffensive Man. By his own Account he has had great Experience in various Manufactures, and has been totally ruined, for a Suspicion that he meditated Sending to America Maps and Plans of Machines. if you can assist him and employ him, I hope and believe he may be useful. With great / Respect I have the Honour to be / Sir, your most obedient and most / humble Servant

John Adams
