From Benjamin Franklin to Josiah Tucker, 10 February 1775

To Josiah Tucker

ALS (draft): American Philosophical Society

London, Feb. 10. 1775

Reverend Sir,

I beg to be inform’d by a Line whether a Letter, the third I did myself the honour of writing to you, dated the 26th of February 1774, ever came to your Hands.1 I am, Reverend Sir, Your most obedient and most humble Servant

B F

Dr Tucker, Dean of Glocester

Notation by Franklin: Letter to Dr Tucker Feb. 13.2 75

1It did indeed. Tucker did not answer it but subsequently used it in a pamphlet; see the note on the letter to which BF refers. The present inquiry also, as far as we know, produced no reply.

2The draft originally seems to have borne this date; the “3” was then overwritten “0”.
