Received of John Thomas by the hands of John Laurence2 Twenty seven pounds for damages in the above suit3 and Twenty six pounds for Costs.

2After resigning as judge advocate of the Continental Army in 1782, Laurance resumed the practice of law in New York City.

3Peter and Elizabeth King v John Thomas was a case which concerned the conversion of goods.
