ALB, DLC:GW.

These goods were shipped by Robert Cary & Co. on 13 Feb. 1764, and their receipt was acknowledged by GW on 10 Aug. 1764. In DLC:GW are also GW’s invoices for goods ordered on this day for Frances Dandridge and for John Parke and Martha Parke Custis.

Drab was a woolen cloth ranging from natural to brown in color.

Cary shipped “2 Oz. [best] blond [Silk].”

Jaconet muslin is a lightweight cloth.

Ferret is a tape usually made of cotton.

Bottle sliders were trays for decanters. This may be the “2 pr bottle Stands coverd wt. hairy calfskn” that Cary sent on 13 Feb. 1764.

Cary shipped GW a tea kettle on 13 Feb. 1764, but in his invoice to Cary of 10 Aug. 1764 GW reordered a tea kitchen, saying that he did not wish to have the tea kettle.

GW wrote “Raspd.” Rash was a fabric sometimes used in making shoes.

GW wrote “sprs.”

Shelbury & Lettice was a millinery firm.

Ann Harris.

GW may have intended to write “for placing China in.”
