To Nathan Rice

New York March 21st 1800

Sir

I have received a letter dated 14th. instant from Major Walker requesting a furlough for five or six weeks.1 You will, if you deem it expedient and for the good of the service grant him leave of absence for the whole or any part of the time he requires.
