George Washington to the
Officers to Collect Provisions

Morristown [New Jersey] January 8, 1780. Orders collection of two hundred head of cattle and eight hundred bushels of grain in Bergen County, New Jersey. States how owners are to be paid. If there is a refusal to cooperate, officers are to impress needed goods. Urges officers to respect individual rights.
