The letter from Dick to Muter (printed in full in CVSP description begins Calendar of Virginia State Papers … Preserved in the Capitol at Richmond description ends , i, 372–3), requesting lead and salt for use at the gun factory at Fredericksburg, was evidently transmitted to TJ for authorization, although there is no notation by Muter to that effect.
