2A full report of the public dinner for Richard Rush, including toasts and speeches, held on 20 May at Washington Hall in Philadelphia, was given in the Daily National Intelligencer, 25 July 1825. John Payne Todd gave one of the volunteer toasts: “Albert Gallatin, of Pennsylvania—An American, like Lafayette, by choice, not chance; a legislator, a financier, and a negotiator.”
