My dear Sir,
My Grandfather who is still obliged to keep his Bed and unable to write, directs me to send you the enclosed Extract of a Letter, he last Night recd from Dr Cooper of Boston.4
We desire much to know when you will be able to put again to Sea; That you may have a prosperous Voyage, is the sincere Wish of, Your very affectionate Friend

4. WTF enclosed a copy of the third paragraph of Samuel Cooper’s Sept. 8 letter, above. It was also copied into BF’s letterbook along with the present letter.
5. Jones acknowledged the present letter and its enclosure on Nov. 11. He expressed concern about BF’s health and complained that he had received neither passports for James Cheston and others nor powers to administer oaths of allegiance to them. He advised sending dispatches to him as soon as possible, and promised that when he returned to America he would “endeavour to prove the wondrous Wisdom of Doctor Lee”: Bradford, Jones Papers, reel 6, no. 1264.
