[Philadelphia] Sunday 21st August [1791]
Dear Sir,
At eight ’oclock A.M. tomorrow, I set out for Mr Powells farm, to see the operation of Colo. Anderson’s threshing Machine.1 I Break fast, you know, at half past Seven; if it is convenient to take that in your way, I should be glad to see you at it.
When you have read the enclosed letters I will converse with you on the subject of them.2 I am always yours

1. The farm of Samuel Powel on the Schuylkill River was west of the Market Street bridge. Jefferson accompanied GW there on 22 Aug., and they observed the operation of the new threshing machine developed by Alexander Anderson (c.1754–1824). Powel described the machine in a letter of 25 Nov. 1791 that Arthur Young published in his Annals of Agriculture, 17 (1792), 206–8.
2. The enclosed letters have not been identified.
