Carey’s Addresses of the Philadelphia Society for the promotion of National Industry (1st ed., Philadelphia, 1819; Poor, Jefferson’s Library description begins Nathaniel P. Poor, Catalogue. President Jefferson’s Library, 1829 description ends , 11 [no. 707]) went through multiple editions, 1819–20. The work included excerpts on the subject of manufacturing from Benjamin Austin to TJ, 11 Dec. 1815, and TJ to Austin, 9 Jan. 1816 (pp. 157–61). Carey was a founder of the society in 1819 (ANB description begins John A. Garraty and Mark C. Carnes, eds., American National Biography, 1999, 24 vols. description ends ).
