imediatly upon receipt of this Letter you are desired to march the remainder of your Battalion Directly to this City in order to embark for Albany on your Rout to Canada.
the Congress have been pleasd to order that upon Your march or Imbarkation from hence for Canada, the pay of your men, Shall be the Same as those of other Regiments employd in the Same Service to wit 6⅔ds. dollars ⅌ month of this you will please to inform them1—I shall depend upon your making dispatch & am Sir yrs

1. Congress passed this resolution on 23 April, the same day that it directed GW to send six more regiments to Canada. The troops in the middle colonies had enlisted for $5 a month, and it was not until 10 June that Congress increased the pay for all of them to the $6⅔ rate received by the eastern troops (, 4:302, 5:428; see also GW to Hancock, 25–26 April, Hancock to GW, 10 June, and General Orders, 16 June 1776).
