This is to request that you would cause to be paid in London for me to Mr James Woodmason the Sum of Twenty Pounds Eight Shillings and six pence Sterling, being for Paper of a particular kind which he has furnished by my Order and sent hither, for printing the Congress Promises.—4 I have the honour to be, Sir, Your most obedient & most humble Servant

4. For this paper, which BF had ordered in June, 1779, see XXX, 609–12. We cannot be certain when the shipment arrived at Passy; by July 25, BF learned that it was in Rouen (to Woodmason, July 25, Birmingham Assay Office, England). On May 31 Grand debited BF’s account 507 l.t. 2 s. for payment to Woodmason: Account VI (XXIII, 21).
