6Probably the man of that name who was one of the receveurs généraux des finances: J. F. Bosher, French Finances 1770–1795: From Business to Bureaucracy (Cambridge, 1970), p. 323; Almanach royal for 1778, p. 497. A Chanorier signed himself by that title in writing to WTF on Feb. 14, 1783 (APS); the handwriting is different, but the present note may have been from a secretary.
