I have taken the Liberty to send your Exellency two of my Résumé memoirs.9 There was a Council yesterday But haveing much business mine was not finishe’d. The Gentlemen have ordre’d a Council on Monday next for this business only at which time I flatter my self it will be Judge’d to my satisfacton,1 I still pray for the continuation of your Exellencys friendship & I have the Honour to be with Respect your Exellency most Obedent Humb Sert

1. The affair was not resolved until early July, and not before Andrews had written a final, impassioned plea for BF to sign certain letters (Andrews to WTF, May 29, 1782, APS). Following the successful judgment Andrews planned to return to America, but died in France on Nov. 23. JW and Edward Bancroft were executors of his estate. They drew up a summary of his affairs on Feb. 1, 1785, which BF attested on Feb. 16: JW to Andrews, July 6 and Aug. 10, 1782; JW to Bancroft, Nov. 24, 1782 (Yale University Library); “The State of Affairs of the Late Mr. Samuel Andrews” (Indiana University Library).
