By the President’s order Bw Dandridge sends the enclosed copy of a Resolution of the House of Representatives, to the Secy of War, & requests him to give the information required thereby.1 The President wishes to see the Secretary in order to converse with him on the subject of the resolution.

1. On this date the House of Representatives “Resolved, that the President of the United States be requested to cause the proper Officer to lay before this House, a copy of the instructions given to the Superintendants & Engineers for erecting the fortifications for the defence of the sea-ports of the United States, and of their reports thereupon; and also to inform the House in what instances cessions have been made by the respective States, of the lands on which fortifications are to be erected (copy, DLC:GW; see also , 7:80).
