From Thomson Mason

Hollin Hall March 17th 1798

Sir

On my Return Home yesterday Evening I found your Letter of the 15th Inst. and am sorry I happened to be from Home at that time, but we shall be very happy to see Mrs Washington & yourself at any other time which may be convenient to you.1

You are extremely welcome to take up as many of the Holly plants, you mention, as you chuse. I am with Respect, Sir your obdt Servt

Thomson Mason (1759–1820) lived at Hollin Hall, just to the north of River farm at Mount Vernon, on land given to him by his father, George Mason of Gunston Hall.

Charlottesville, Va., 1976–79. description ends , 6:286). Mason’s wife was Sarah McCarty Chichester Mason, the daughter of another neighbor, Richard Chichester.
