LS, in Robert Hanson Harrison’s writing, PHi: Wayne Papers.
1. Wayne’s light infantry successfully attacked Stony Point, N.Y., on the night of 15–16 July. For an overview of preparations, and the attack’s aftermath, see GW to Wayne, 1 July, n.2; see also GW to John Jay, 21 July.
2. GW apparently is asking for information that Wayne supplied in his letter to him of 17 July.
