1GW’s order is dated 25 July 1769. GW wrote Cary on 20 Aug. 1770 that he did not receive these goods “till the middle of June.”

2John Fish was a merchant at no. 80 Lower Thames Street.

3An aune was an old French unit of measurement.

4Joseph Middleditch, grocer, had his shop at no. 4 Budge Row.

5Thomas White was an ironmonger at no. 122 Upper Thames Street.

6Francis Brazier was a gunmaker at no. 122 Minories.

7A nappy is a shallow bowl sometimes used as a coaster or a salad plate.
