Monticello [Va.] 13 Aug. 1792. Sends “the inclosed letters which the tardy movement of the Post did not bring to him till yesterday evening, a day later than he should have arrived.”1

1. The enclosures may have included the letters from Willink, Van Staphorst & Hubbard to Jefferson of 30 May, from F. C. A. Delamotte to Jefferson of 5 June, and from David Humphreys to Jefferson of 17 and 20 June, all of which Jefferson recorded in his Summary Journal of Public Letters as having been received on 12 Aug. 1792 (DLC: Jefferson Papers).
