To Thomas Jefferson from Charles Willson Peale, [13? December 1791]

From Charles Willson Peale

Tuesday Morng [13? Dec. 1791]

Sir

Your favor of sitting today will oblige Your very Hble Servt.,

C W Peale

FC (PPAP: Peale Letter Book); in Peale’s hand; undated except as above, but the letter succeeding this one was written after an illness and apparently after some lapse of time on 12 Jan. 1792. The one immediately preceding it is the note to TJ printed at 3 Dec. 1791. Neither Peale’s two notes nor TJ’s presumed replies are recorded in SJL. It is possible that the above inquiry was sent on 6, 13, 20, or 27 Dec. but, given all the circumstances, the 13th seems the more plausible date.
