Dear Sir,
I am to night favor’d with yours of the 9th. covering the remaining halves of the $:350.; the first of which came by last post; and which, with the 1500$: the receipt of which I acknowledged last night, makes $:1850. to your credit.

I Acknowledged Last Night: on 12 Jan., George Jefferson wrote TJ that he had received his letters of 7 and 8 Jan., enclosing “1500$. in halves, and the last likewise inclosing the first halves of the further sum of $:350” (RC in MHi; at foot of text: “Thos. Jefferson esqr.”; endorsed by TJ as received 16 Jan. and so recorded in SJL, where TJ connected it by a brace to the letter printed above).
