Under the provisions of “An Act making appropriations for the support of Government for the year one thousand seven hundred and ninety-three” ( 325–29) the sum of $5,169 was allotted for “the payment of such demands, not otherwise provided for, as shall have been duly allowed by the officers of the treasury.”

73. “An Act to provide for the allowance of interest on the sum ordered to be paid by the resolve of Congress, of the twenty-eighth of September, one thousand seven hundred and eighty-five, as an indemnity to the persons therein named” ( 11).

Section 2 of “An Act in addition to an act intituled ‘An Act for establishing the salaries of the Executive officers of Government, with their assistants and clerks’” provided for the payment of “reasonable and necessary” moving expenses incurred by Government clerks in the transfer of the capital from New York to Philadelphia ( 216 [March 3, 1791]).
